A BULAWAYO man was arrested after allegedly turning into a one-man demolition squad and attacking a neighbour with half bricks over a suspected love triangle that existed only in his head and was powered by a snitching child.
Brandon Ndlovu (33) from Nguboyenja appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Mark Dzira after he allegedly assaulted a 46-year-old National Railways of Zimbabwe trailer fitter, accusing him of having an illicit relationship with his wife.
Brandon was remanded in custody until today and pleaded guilty to the charge.
The complainant, Kelly Ndlovu, is not related to Brandon, but the two stay in the same neighbourhood.
Prosecuting Hazel Ncube told the court that on November 9, 2025, around 4PM, Kelly was relaxing at a friend’s house in Thorngrove when Brandon arrived breathing fire.
Brandon accused Kelly of having an affair with his wife, stormed out of the yard, picked up two half bricks and returned ready for action.
The first half-brick flew past Kelly’s head like a warning shot. The second found its target and smashed him on the right side of the head, leaving him with a deep cut.
Kelly was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for treatment.
Brandon told the court that his troubles started when his wife went to buy bread one Sunday and met Kelly on her way back.
He claimed Kelly asked for her phone number and their child overheard the conversation and later delivered the news at dinner like a breaking news bulletin.
Although his wife denied being promiscuous, Brandon said the seed of suspicion had already been planted by the household reporter.
A week later, Brandon found Kelly at a friend’s place.
According to Brandon, Kelly pointed at him and said he would sleep with his mother who is in a wheelchair.
That is when the bricks came out.
Kelly told the court that Brandon had been accusing him for a long time, sometimes even apologising after cooling down.
But on that day, jealousy won, the child’s report stood and the bricks flew.
