IS Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya the BEST Zimbabwean striker right now?

It appears the answer is a firm YES!

The 22-year-old speedy forward scored his FOURTH goal, in his first eight matches in the Betway Premier League in South Africa last night, as Amazulu forced an impressive 1-1 away draw against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Ngwenya joined Usuthu at the start of the new South African season.

The expectation was that he will use the first few months to settle and try and cope with the challenges that come with playing in Supa Diski.

But, Ngwenya has exploded and if he maintains his form, it’s very likely that the Big Boys of the South African Premiership Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns  will come knocking on his door soon.

He has scored half of the eight goals which Amazulu have scored in league action this season.

Ngwenya’s goals have come against Sekhukhune, who are in second-place on the table and are enjoying a dream start to the campaign, Magesi, TS Galaxy and Chiefs.

Last night it took him only 21minutes to open the scores for Usuthu in the stadium which hosted the 2010 World Cup final.

The Amakhosi equalised before the break and, without any further goals from the two sides, the game ended in a draw.

But, for Ngwenya, it was another day when he showcased his goal-scoring talents as he added to his impressive early season tally.

He has been drafted into the Warriors squad for the final two World Cup matches against Bafana Bafana and Lesotho this month.

The match against Bafana Bafana will be played in Durban, which has been Ngwenya’s base since his arrival in South Africa.

The Warriors have struggled for a reliable goal-scorer and it appears Ngwenya is on the right path to transform himself into the man who will lead their attack for a long time.
