GLAMOUR met purpose, faith found its voice and women were challenged to take charge of their destinies when HER ARMOR made its debut at the prestigious Hyatt Regency Harare over the weekend.
From conversations about relationships and financial independence to fragrance, self-worth and spiritual growth, the inaugural gathering organised by DruBecca Agency proved that women’s empowerment can go beyond motivational speeches and glamorous networking.
Led by Becky K and her husband, the agency brought together women from different walks of life for an experience designed to inspire reflection, encourage personal transformation and equip participants with practical lessons for everyday living.
HER ARMOR is built around the biblical armour of God, with the organisers drawing parallels between spiritual strength and the qualities women need to navigate life’s challenges.
Faith, identity, wisdom, character, relationships, purpose and resilience formed the backbone of the gathering.
The international flavour added another dimension, with speakers from Zambia, South Africa and Uganda sharing the platform with local voices.
Zambia’s Katongo Kafwariman set the tone by challenging women to embrace change and learn to pivot when life refuses to follow their expectations.
Her presentation was particularly thought-provoking, urging participants to examine the decisions they make and the direction in which they are heading.
One question stood out: “Whose plan are you following?”
It was a powerful reminder that sometimes women become so consumed by expectations from society, family and those around them that they lose sight of their own ambitions.
South Africa’s Thandeka Chindove brought relationships into the spotlight, tackling a subject many people often find uncomfortable. She explored how relationships can influence personal destiny, encouraging women to identify connections that nurture their growth and those that potentially hold them back.
Her message was equally direct: women must know when to shut it down.
In a gathering that celebrated femininity, Ruby Muchenje brought a refreshing lifestyle twist through her presentation on fragrance.
The qualified and certified perfume atelier took participants through the art of creating a personal scent profile, demonstrating how fragrance can become part of one’s identity and signature. Her memorable advice was: “Never be found unscented.”
It was one of those light-hearted but memorable moments that gave the gathering its lifestyle appeal.
However, HER ARMOR was not all about perfume, presentation and personal branding.
Dr Chipo Ndudzo of Providence Human Capital delivered a wake-up call on self-awareness and the importance of putting one’s life in order.
She challenged women to pay attention to their mental space, personal priorities and the things happening around them.
Her message centred on self-worth, reflection and intentional living.
“Set your mind right. You are important,” was among the key takeaways from her presentation, which encouraged women to stop postponing their personal growth. Money matters also received considerable attention, with Theodore, a trainer from Old Mutual, delivering a financial literacy session that challenged participants to take their financial responsibilities seriously.
Drawing from Old Mutual Zimbabwe’s ‘On the Money’ initiative, the presentation explored personal finance and money management through the behavioural characteristics of Africa’s Big Five animals. The session reinforced an important point: empowerment without financial knowledge is incomplete.
For women juggling businesses, careers, families and personal ambitions, understanding how to manage money is just as important as having the confidence to pursue opportunities.
The spiritual highlight came from Uganda’s Pastor Victoria Sibiya Sebatsane, who ministered to the gathering through the Word of God.
Her presentation brought the event back to its biblical foundation, with a strong emphasis on faith, spiritual growth and nation-building.
It was a fitting conclusion to a programme that had explored different dimensions of a woman’s life.
Beyond the speakers, the inaugural HER ARMOR gathering was also a statement of intent by DruBecca Agency.
