A FUSION of seasoned and young artistes billed to perform at this year’s Heroes Day Gala, slated for August 12 at Kujeke Growth Point in Mashonaland East Province, has been released.
The musical extravaganza affords the nation a chance to look back and reflect on the dedication and sacrifices done by the country’s heroes and heroines, through music, poetry and dance.
Andy Muridzo, Mark Ngwazi, Chief Hwenje, Mathias Mhere Shantel Sithole, Sasha Madhuve, Jah Master, Clemence Magwaza, Jays Marabini, Machanic Manyeruke, Enzo Ishall, Simon Mutambi, ZPCS Band, Tendai Dembo, Mr Gray, Mainato and Ndunge Youth are scheduled to perform at the gala.
With Mashonaland East being the host, artistes from the province will be afforded an opportunity to shine and showcase their talent.
Jungle fox, Josphat Somanje, Kadiki and Van Chichi, Del Roy as well as Mutokwe and sons, all from Mashonaland East Province have been roped in as part of the entertainers.
Those who have been entrusted to be presenters to ensure revellers are treated to a flawless show are Tatenda Chinoda, Kanyemba Bhonzo, Lucy Ngosolo, Edias Sibanda, also known as Mafight, and Thabani Gambiza.
Seasoned Jazz musician Jeys Marabini,who has become a darling on many national events, said it was always an honour to do national duty as that brews a sense of belonging and importance for him as a musician.
He highlighted that it was vital for the nation to remember the sons and daughters who fought for the nation to be free, as the country is enjoying independence because of their efforts.
“The National Heroes Day celebrations are important to all of us as Zimbabweans because we are free today because of our fathers and mothers who sacrificed their lives to join the liberation struggle.
“As we enjoy independence today, I believe it is my task to use my gift in helping celebrate these heroes because we are enjoying today because of them.
“I am humbled to be given such an opportunity to contribute through my talent as we gather together as a nation in remembering both our fallen heroes and those who are still alive,” said Marabini.
Meanwhile, Lennex Mandipaza who is the Principal Information Officer in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, said preparations for the much-anticipated gala are going smoothly.
“We started preparations for the event way back, what was left was releasing the list of performers which is already out.
“This is a very important gathering for the nation as we remember our heroes who fought for the country. With music playing a pivotal role in the liberation struggle, we trust that the artistes who will be performing at the event will revive that spirit as we celebrate the sacrifices of our heroes through music and dance,” said Mandipaza.
Through the second republic’s mantra of living no one and no place behind, national events have been taken to remote areas around the country so as to promote togetherness and foster a sense of belonging among Zimbabweans.
Apart from Kujeke Growth Point, to date, national galas have also been hosted in remote and humble places like Murambinda Growth Point in Buhera, Mt Darwin, Dotito Growth Point, Nyika Growth Point in Bikita and Gokwe’s Nembudziya.
