THE High Court has convened to announce penalties to be imposed on Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe following their conviction for misappropriating over US$7,7 million linked to the Presidential Goat Pass-On Scheme.

At the conclusion of the trial, the court found both individuals guilty as co-perpetrators of the crime. Under criminal law, the actions of a co-perpetrator are treated as equivalent to those of the principal perpetrator for the purposes of conviction.

Justice Pisirayi Kwenda said the pair’s conviction was based on testimonies from State witnesses.

The judge emphasised that the court found the evidence presented by the prosecution to be credible as he provided a brief summary of the prosecution’s case.
