Some of Zimbabwe’s rising music stars, including Bhila, Mzistozz Umfanafuthi, Poptain, and Jah Master, are set to take the stage in Bulawayo for a festive music event.
Dubbed Hippo Fest, the celebration marks the first anniversary of Hippopula. It will feature a line-up of local and regional acts, including Simunye Simunye, Butholezwe, DJ Smosh, DJ Sparks, DJ White, DJ Dodo, and DJ Wakanda.

The event will be hosted by Teressa Lyon and Mubanga Mumu from Zambia, adding an international touch to the celebrations.
Speaking about the festival, Hippopula manager Khaya Pardon said the event is part of a broader effort to promote local talent.

“The journey of Hippopula has been a rollercoaster. We’ve faced setbacks, but we’ve managed to stand again. Our focus now is on uplifting local talent, with shows featuring artistes from Bulawayo, Harare, and other towns,” Khaya said.
He added that the brand has gradually gained recognition, securing a stand at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, earning social media attention from Zimbabwean celebrities, and becoming a sought-after location for music video shoots.
