UPCOMING R&B and Afro-pop artist, Simbarashe “Skiezy” Shumba, says balancing school and music is not easy, but he is giving it a go.
The 25-year-old is a masters’ student in construction project management.
Every night, Siezy then starts feeding on his passion for music. In an interview, Skiezy admitted that he was still learning how to navigate the demands of education and the entertainment industry at the same time.
“When it comes to my music and school work I still need to find the balance between the two, but what I know is I don’t have an actual formula. It just works out like that,” he said.
Skiezy said his goal, when it comes to his music, is to create an environment and a safe space for his fans.
He recently held the first edition of his new acoustic show, ‘Tuned In With Skiezy.’
The debut event was dedicated to mothers.
Skiezy introduced his new singles ‘Remember” featuring Shane, and another upcoming single titled “Simba”.
“Fans can expect more live sessions, fresh collaborations and upcoming releases as l continue to establish myself as one of the young voices in local music. We have more intimate shows coming up and more brand-new tunes on the way, so people should stay tuned
“All the shows will be designed to create a relaxed and personal atmosphere where audiences could fully connect with the music and storytelling behind the songs,” he said. He played songs from his debut Ep “Tapi Tapi” and also introduced new music.
“It’s about keeping things intimate and real. We want people to sit back, listen, and feel the music.
“My first show was dedicated mainly to the mothers as l launched it on Mother’s Day. We invited mainly mothers whom I shared my performance with. I showcased both released and unreleased music from my growing catalogue.”
