LOOKING good and feeling beautiful is not only for when you are going somewhere important but instead it is the lifestyle of all fashion lovers to look good and polished – either at home or out in public.
The mindset of a truly elegant person, or fashion lover, is that fashion is not only for a show.
But, this is about being ingrained in the world of fashion.
Here are a few tips on how to look good while at home.
WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING
Looking good at home is not always about that high fashion sense. It is ideal to wear comfortable clothing that is a good fit, slightly loose or regular fit is the way to go. Avoid tight fitting clothing as it may hinder comfort unless the fabric is very stretchy.
For best results, you can wear your “casuals” and they are ideal for both men and women, one colour combos of sweat pants coupled with a tank top, T-shirts and a hoodie or comfy sweater over the combo on a chilly day.
Other choices could be sporty shorts, skirts. If casual is not your thing and you like to take it up a notch, you can go for that flowy dress in your favourite colour, floral prints, polka dot or checked to create that elegant homely feel. Flowy skirts and blouses work as well for a bit of variety and a lady-like feel. On a budget, go for your old clothing, clean with a good fit, repair torn or unravelled parts.
COLOURS
Wear your favourite colours to feel relaxed and more in tune with yourself.
For the fashionista in you, play around with the colours of the season and be up to date with the colour trend. Flow the fashion calendar.
The winter 2025 season colours are from the bright shades of red like cherry tomato, burgundy, shades of blue including turquoise, cobalt blue and bright emerald green, lemon, butter yellow and neutrals like khaki, beige, caramel and muted grey.
Summer 2025-2026 season colours are red orange, dusty pink, deep burgundy, muted grey, creamy white and midnight blue, amongst others.
HAIR
Well kept hair can keep you feeling good even at home. Instead of letting yourself go, simple styling can make a huge difference.
A pony tail, mid-parted or side-parted hair, cornrows and clean, combed hair are some of the quick, simple-at-home hairstyle hacks and looks.
Bonnets are only for the night and the early hours of the morning. To achieve a “look good, feel good theme” at home, try to avoid spending all day/all days in a bonnet.
MAKE-UP
It is advisable to keep make up to the minimum while at home, simple touch-ups will work wonders for a day at home.
Let your skin breathe and find a skin care routine that you can follow and apply.
There are many organic skin care routines that one can do at home without a single cost. Know your skin type and do research on which ones could work on your skin.
SHOES
Relaxation is the main goal: barefoot is an option when indoors. Flat shoes are the most ideal, sandals, flip flops, slippers and lightweight flats work well. Heels or shoes with a heavy sole are not the most homely shoes because they do not encourage comfort or relaxation.
