‘How to Ruin Love’ leads with 11 nominations at the 19th Saftas

The South African Film and Television Awards have announced the nominations for the 19th annual awards show.

Last year, the 19th annual Saftas were rescheduled to March 2026, due to unforeseen delays, after being initially scheduled to take place in October 2025.

“How to Ruin Love” Season 1 by Burnt Onion Productions has 11 nominations, making it the most nominated title.

Actress Sivenathi Mabuya-Bukani has been nominated for Best Actress in a TV comedy, actor Thabo Malema, nominated for Best Supporting Actor In A TV Comedy, and actress Shoki Mmola for Best Supporting Actress In A TV Comedy.

“How to Ruin Love” received nominations in the following categories:

Best Achievement in Make-Up and Hairstyling – Tv Comedy, Best Achievement in Wardrobe – TV Comedy, Best Achievement in Sound – TV Comedy, Best Achievement in Art Direction – TV Comedy, Best Achievement In Editing – TV Comedy, Best Achievement In Scriptwriting -Tv Comedy, Best Achievement in Cinematography -TV Comedy and Best Achievement in Directing – TV Comedy.

Mzansi Magic’s viewer favourite “Inimba” received several nominations: Best Achievement in Art Direction – TV Soap/Telenovela, Best Achievement in Scriptwriting – Telenovela

Best Telenovela, Most Popular TV Soap or Telenovela (Public Vote), and actress Zenande Mfenyana received a Best Supporting Actress in a Telenovela nomination.

“Mince Jou Hare” is nominated nine times in the following categories: Best Achievement In Make-Up and Hairstyling – TV Comedy, Best Achievement in Wardrobe – TV Comedy, Best Achievement In Sound – TV Comedy, Best Achievement In Art Direction – TV Comedy, Best Achievement In Editing – TV Comedy, Best Achievement In Scriptwriting -TV Comedy, Best Achievement In Cinematography -TV Comedy, Best Achievement In Directing – TV Comedy, and Best TV Comedy

Actor Sello Maake ka-Ncube received two nominations, Best Supporting Actor in a TV Soap for “Skeem Saam” and Best Actor in a Telenovela for “Champions”.

SABC 1’s “Skeem Saam” is nominated in the following categories: Best Achievement in Scriptwriting – TV Soap, Best TV Soap, Most Popular TV Soap or Telenovela (Public Vote), and actress Vele Manenje is up for Best Supporting Actress In A TV Soap.

Popular Showmax telenovela “Youngins” has received seven nominations: Best Achievement in Editing-Telenovela, Best Achievement on Original Music/Score – Telenovela, Best Achievement in Sound-TV Soap/ Telenovela, Best Achievement In Directing – Telenovela,  Best Telenovela, and Most Popular TV Soap or Telenovela (Public Vote)   IOL.
