CURTAINS came down in the Pacific Breeze Southern Region Soccer League on Saturday with Hwange winning the race and ticket to the Premiership.

Hwange will be crowned at their home ground on November 14 at what promises to be a football festival to feature four teams from Hwange and Victoria Falls.

Hwange are expected to clash with Megawatt who are fellow seasoned campaigners in Division One.
Ngqwele Dube, the Zifa Southern Region spokesperson confirmed yesterday that they are in talks with the sponsors over the special day’s programme.

“We have been in touch with Pacific Breeze and we will stay guided by what they want for the presentation ceremony. There is a likelihood of a very big event that may feature Hwange, Megawatt, Blackrock and possibly Victoria Falls Herentals.

“Hwange will be crowned there and so will individual prize winners,” said Dube.
The 2026 season had a smooth run with a few incidents.

“This has hugely been a very successful campaign and the competition was good,” said Dube.
For a larger portion of the race Hwange who finished with 77 points, were leading and in second place were Talen Vision with 72 ppoints.

Talen Vision however had the highest number of goals as they had a total of 65 goals compared to

Hwange’s 60.

Hwange had the best defence that let in just eight goals all season.
Hwange coach Njabulo Dube was full of praises for his defence after a great season.

“Peter Mushure demonstrated good skills of organising his defenders hence we conceded very few goals,” said Njabulo.
Mushure is only 22.

Thirty-four-year-old Sherperd Gadzikwa who played as right wing back and defensive midfielder was another key player.

He is a good organiser on the field whose aerial prowess, good timing, high line recovery and calmness was superb.

Njabulo also had good words for Splendour Membe, Sebastian Moyo, Alvin Ngirazi and Desmond Mukamba.

“They were key players and were more consistent,” said Njabulo.
Without anything to lose the coalminers faced Bulawayo City at the Colliery on Saturday where striker, Morestuff Ncube, playing in only his first season in the First Division, was on target for

Chipangano. He scored the only goal for the home side who were held to a 1-1 draw.
Ncube’s strike brought his season’s tally to 16 tied with second placed Talen Vision’s Gabriel Rugoho.
