England-based Zimbabwean gospel singer Isaac Mthabisi Mpofu, better known by his stage name Isaac Mtha Eland, has released a new single titled Umusa, a collaboration with Prophet Bruce Edwards from Bulawayo.

Before relocating to the United Kingdom, Isaac was a member of the renowned gospel group Vocal Ex, a journey that shaped his musical foundation and prepared him for a solo career.

Since branching out on his own, he has released four singles, with Umusa marking a significant milestone in his evolving artistry.
“Being part of Vocal Ex taught me a lot about music and gave me the courage to pursue a solo career. I compose my own songs, most of which are inspired by reading the Bible. Where others see a verse, I often see a song. That’s how Scripture influences my writing,” he said.

Isaac’s music is deeply rooted in faith, carrying a consistent message of hope, perseverance, and trust in God. He says his primary mission is to remind listeners that, no matter the circumstances, “there is a God in heaven who can be trusted”.
“All my songs carry a common theme – never give up. Umusa is one of my favourites because of the powerful message it shares.”

He said working with Prophet Bruce Edwards was an honour, as his contribution added a deeper spiritual dimension to the song.
“The response from listeners has been overwhelming, with many saying the song has renewed their hope.”

Isaac described his collaboration with Prophet Edwards as a natural fit, saying the man of God’s sermons, widely shared online, align perfectly with the hope-filled messages in his music.
“Prophet Edwards’ messages have personally inspired me to keep going, and I knew his voice would complement the message in Umusa. We both preach the same gospel of hope, just in different ways.”

Isaac considers his ability to transform Bible verses into music a divine gift. The process, he says, often happens spontaneously, sometimes while reading Scripture, other times unexpectedly.
“My music is directed at people who feel stuck, graduates who can’t find jobs, parents struggling to guide their children, or individuals battling hopelessness. I want to remind them that their time will come and that God’s plan is always at work.”

His ultimate goal is to use music as a tool to point people back to God, especially during life’s most difficult moments.
“Whether it’s family struggles, personal challenges, or moments when one feels like giving up, my message remains the same, trust God,” he said.

Raised in a Christian home, Isaac’s passion for gospel music was nurtured from an early age through family Bible studies and worship.
“Growing up in a Christian environment shaped who I am today. I realised early on that music is a powerful teaching tool, it sticks. That’s why even children learn through songs. I wanted to use that same power to share God’s Word.”

Asked whether gospel music receives enough support compared to other genres, Isaac believes it does.
“Every genre has its own market. If you stay consistent, remain faithful, and keep your relationship with God strong, you will eventually break through. The music will begin to sustain you,” he said.

Looking ahead, Isaac revealed that he is working on his debut album, set for release next year.
“So far, I’ve released five songs: Thembalami, Ungithwele, Ngiwabonile, Makatendeka, and now Umusa. I’m also writing more music that will be part of my upcoming album. Although I balance music with another job, it remains my passion and my ministry,” he shared.
Umusa is available on major music streaming platforms.
