QUEEN of praise and worship, Dorcas Moyo, has described her latest project titled ‘‘Mugeri Tsvatu’’ as her best album so far in her music career.
The album, which is her 10th offering, was launched on Saturday at the Manicaland Showgrounds in Mutare where hordes of gospel music lovers were in attendance.
The album carries 11-tracks namely ‘‘Denga Rina Mwari’’ (ft Mbeu), ‘‘Messiah Ndichamuona’’ (ft Nobert Mukombe and Pastor C Vhengere), ‘‘Rumbidzo Yangu’’, ‘‘Panopfurika’’, ‘‘Wamunodisa’’, ‘‘Kazevezeve’’, ‘‘Munamato’’ (ft Samantha Love), ‘‘Jerusarema’’, ‘‘Wodalitsika’’ (ft Dr Ethel Kamwendo Banda), ‘‘Mubatsiri Wangu’’ (ft Tinashe Mutsigo) and the title song-‘‘Mugeri Tsvatu.’’
Dorcas, who is also celebrating 20 years in the music industry, has been one of the leading female gospel musicians ever since her breakthrough song, ‘‘Haakotsire.’’
“This is my best album ever and I have made it for everyone who is feels he is being targeted, or people are planning evil things against him or her.
“Zvese zvakarongwa kukurwisa, kukurwadzisa nezvinoshuvirwa pamusoro pako hazvina simba nekuti kuna Mwari kudenga anotirwira, chese chakaipa chakarongwa pamusoro pako hachibudirire,” said Dorcas.
Dorcas revealed she will also be launching the album in the United Kingdom.
“I am also planning to launch the album during my visit to the UK in October, this is going to be special for me and the brand Dorcas Moyo as we also connect with our fans in the diaspora.
“The album also comes at a time I am celebrating two nominations at the CLIMA Africa Awards for the second time in a row,” she said.
The highlight of the launch came when sungura ace Alick Macheso joined Dorcas on stage, sending the crowd into delirium.
The two opened their act with their duet, ‘‘Mhanza Haisekwi’’ before Dorcas
Moyo’s band played Macheso’s ‘‘Charakupa’’, ‘‘Baba naMai’’ and ‘‘Shedia’’.
Mathias Mhere and Baba Harare, who has just announced his return to Jiti Music, also backed Dorcas at the launch.
Mai Charamba, Suluman Chimbetu, Africa Praise and Hosiah Chipanga also performed at the event.
Dorcas has also congratulated fellow musician Agartha Murudzwa who also launched her album in Harare.
“Dear my big Sis Agartha Murudzwa, I am writing to express my sincere congratulations on the release of your new album Sermon.
“Am so thrilled about this sis and I’m incredibly impressed with your talent and hard work. Your dedication to your craft is truly inspiring, and this album is a testament to your passion. I particularly enjoyed Eloyi . . . It’s a masterpiece.”
In November, Dorcas Moyo will be touring in the United States of America.
