Local film enthusiasts have every reason to be ecstatic in anticipation of the official opening of Road House Cinema at Sam Levy’s Village in Borrowdale, Harare, on June 12.
Not only will the new development bring joy to the creative community, but it will also feature an array of movies at the new creative hub.
The launch comes at a time when the sector is showing signs of growth.
This premium film experience is exactly what fans have been yearning for over the years.
In a statement, Road House Cinema management assured movie lovers that the new hub is intended to deliver premium cinema experiences to be cherished by many.
“Conveniently located at Sam Levy’s Village, Borrowdale, Harare, Road House Cinema combines cutting-edge cinema technology with exceptional comfort, offering audiences a world-class movie experience in the heart of Zimbabwe’s premier shopping and entertainment hub.
“The cinema features state-of-the-art 2D and 3D movie presentations, delivering immersive entertainment for blockbuster fans of all ages. Guests can also enjoy the exclusive Lux Lounge experience, which offers elevated comfort and a premium environment for movie-goers seeking the ultimate cinema outing.
“Road House Cinema opens on June 12, with a blockbuster slate of highly anticipated releases that promise something for every audience,” reads part of the statement.
Some of the major productions to be showcased at the new cinema include The Mandalorian — The beloved Star Wars.
It will be shown on the big screen as Din Djarin and Grogu embark on an epic new adventure across the galaxy, facing dangerous enemies, unexpected allies, and a destiny that could reshape the future of the New Republic.
Also on the bill is The Devil Wears Prada 2, an iconic fashion phenomenon returning with a fresh chapter exploring power, ambition, and reinvention in a rapidly changing media and luxury fashion world, as familiar faces navigate new challenges and rivalries.
“This should be good news to those who are madly in love with film,” management said.
Added to the line-up is Michael, a spectacular cinematic event chronicling the life, artistry, and cultural impact of Michael Jackson, featuring the music, performances, and personal journey of one of the most influential entertainers in history.
Backrooms — inspired by the internet phenomenon that captivated millions worldwide — is a psychological horror experience following characters trapped within an endless maze of eerie spaces, where reality itself begins to unravel. The statement further stated that Tuner, a tense and atmospheric thriller centred on a gifted musician whose extraordinary talent draws them into a web of mystery, manipulation, and high-stakes intrigue, will also be screened.
The same can be said of Masters of the Universe, which is centrally focused on the legendary heroes of Eternia re-turning in a spectacular fantasy adventure. He-Man battles the forces of Skeletor in an epic struggle to protect the universe from ultimate destruction.
Also added to the bill is Power Ballad, a music, romance, and redemption production that takes centre stage in a heartfelt story about forgotten dreams, unexpected connections, and the transformative power of a song that changes everything.
Disclosure Day, a compelling and thought-provoking Steven Spielberg drama exploring the fallout from a world-changing revelation, will also be screened.
It examines how society, governments, and ordinary people respond when long-held truths are challenged.
Scary Movie — the hugely successful comedy franchise — makes its long-awaited return with outrageous laughs, sharp satire, and hilarious spoofs of today’s biggest films, television shows, and pop culture moments.
“Road House Cinema is designed to be more than a cinema — it is a destination where families, friends, film lovers, and communities can gather to share unforgettable experiences on the big screen.
“Guests can look forward to blockbuster premieres, family favourites, special events, private screenings, corporate functions, premium Lux Lounge experiences, and the latest 3D movie presentations throughout the year.

There are also more productions to look forward to, including Toy Story 5 on June 1, and Minions & Monsters on June 26.
On this special occasion, the world’s favourite yellow troublemakers embark on another wildly entertaining adventure packed with chaos, comedy, and family-friendly fun as they set out to create the ultimate monster movie.
The Odyssey will be shown on July 17. It is centred on acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan, who brings Homer’s legendary epic to life in a breathtaking cinematic event, following one of history’s greatest adventures across seas, kingdoms, and mythical worlds.
Moana (Live Action) will also be shown on July 10. This film is centred on Disney’s beloved ocean adventure, re-imagined for a new generation as Moana and Maui set sail on a visually stunning live-action journey filled with courage and music.
