MUSICIANS Jah Prayzah, Feli Nandi and Msiz’kay have been unveiled among the first batch of artistes set to perform at this year’s Jacaranda Music Festival.
The ninth edition of the festival will be held in Harare from October 2 to 4 under the theme, “The Music. The People. The City.”
Festival director Walter Wanyanya said preparations were well underway for the three-day music extravaganza, which has grown into an important platform for celebrating Zimbabwean music and culture.
“Over the years, the festival has grown into an important platform for celebrating Zimbabwean music and culture while connecting local artistes with audiences and creatives from across the world.
“The theme captures the heart of what Jacaranda Music Festival is about – bringing people together through music and celebrating Harare as a vibrant cultural city. Music is the common thread that connects artistes, audiences, communities and different cultures,” said Wanyanya.
The Phase One line-up also includes Travellers Band, Caiiro, Silent Nqo, DJ Young Vibes, Mwendamberi and Andile Brown.
Wanyanya said the initial line-up reflects the depth of talent in Zimbabwe, with organisers deliberately curating a programme that celebrates the diversity of the country’s music scene.
“The line-up has been curated with two key ideas in mind: showcasing Zimbabwe to the world and celebrating diversity. We want to demonstrate the depth and variety of Zimbabwe’s music scene while creating opportunities for our artistes to share the stage with regional and international acts.
“The Phase One line-up brings together different generations, genres and musical styles. This diversity reflects the richness of Zimbabwe’s creative landscape and gives audiences an opportunity to experience different sounds and perspectives in one festival.
“Ultimately, Jacaranda is about putting Zimbabwean talent on a global stage while creating a space where local, regional and international audiences can come together through music,” said Wanyanya.
More artistes are expected to be announced as the festival rolls out its subsequent phases, building towards what organisers hope will be another major celebration of music, culture and the city of Harare.
