A NEW voice is emerging from Bulawayo’s Hip-Hop scene as 20-year-old Jarxd Anthony has stepped into the spotlight with his debut single titled ‘Dreams to Fulfil.’

Born Bandile Matsena, Jarxd Anthony represents a new generation of artists who use music to tell authentic, lived experiences.

Growing up in Entumbane, under the care of his mother, the rapper said his upbringing shaped both his mind-set and his sound.

“I grew up with a strong sense of responsibility as my mom taught me to take accountability for everything I do.

“The environment I come from exposed me to both struggle and resilience and that pushed me towards music as a way to express myself,” he said.

‘Dreams to Fulfil’, which is Anthony’s first professional joint, carries a clear message of ambition and determination, especially for young people navigating difficult circumstances.

Built on a blend of drill and Hood trap influences, the song reflects both global inspiration and local reality.

“In the chorus, I talk about having dreams to fulfil while still young and having a vision for the future.

“It reflects the mind-set of young people trying to make something out of their lives,” he said.

Like many emerging artists, the rapper has faced challenges, including limited opportunities and financial struggles to record music, but he said these obstacles have only strengthened his resolve.

“Difficult experiences have made me stronger and more independent. These obstacles inspire me to compose raw and honest music, as it comes from real life,” he said.

Jarxd Anthony is currently working on new material and says he will be dropping two singles in April.

He is also set to release a four-track Extended Play (EP) set for August.

This move is meant to enrich his catalogue and profile in the game.

The rapper believes that after dropping all his work, he will be among top young creatives who will conquer the year 2026.

He credits the late American rapper Juice WRLD for inspiring his emotional compositions.

He also draws motivation from British artist Central Cee, who influences his flow and sound.

Despite these international influences, he remains grounded in his own story and the experiences from Bulawayo.
