ZIMBABWE is seeing major improvements in hospital service delivery through the 5S-Kaizen-Total Quality Management (TQM) framework, a quality improvement system that streamlines workflows, boosts efficiency, and promotes continuous improvement across healthcare facilities.

Implemented in 14 central and provincial hospitals with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the framework focuses on organising workspaces, standardising procedures, and empowering staff to identify and solve problems, ensuring better patient care and smoother operations.

Health and Child Care Minister Douglas Mombeshora said the initiative has delivered tangible results, including reduced patient waiting times, stronger teamwork, and higher patient satisfaction.
