WESLEY Milanzi’s quiet rise has reached a loud moment.

The CAPS United right back is currently training with Kaizer Chiefs, with transfer talks edging into serious territory as both clubs weigh a possible deal.

Fresh from a standout debut season with the Green Machine, Milanzi is pushing for a permanent switch to Naturena.

While he remains under contract at CAPS United, negotiations are ongoing and could see the Harare club cash in on one of their brightest assets.

A source close to the player confirmed the situation.

“The hope is an agreement will be reached between the clubs so the move is sanctioned.

“He has a running contract, and CAPS United are likely to cash in.”

If completed, the move would extend a familiar Zimbabwean link to Amakhosi, a club that previously featured Thomas Sweswe, Tinashe Nengomasha and Knowledge Musona.

Milanzi’s possible departure comes at a time of changes at CAPS United.

The club are deep into a rebuild following the appointment of Takesure Chiragwi as head coach, with Ian Bakala stepping into an assistant role. Recruitment has been brisk, with more than 11 new players already announced as CAPS look to reassert themselves.

“CAPS United are going all guns blazing to be a dominant force again,” the source added.

“Prince is excited about this project, but a crucial opportunity in South Africa has emerged, one that significantly advances his career.”

His domestic form had drawn interest from several quarters, but the Kaizer Chiefs option now appears the closest to materialising.

“He has received several offers from different suitors, but we believe at the end, he will get the best deal possible, to further develop his career and match ambitions if he is to leave CAPS United.”

The trial period is expected to run for several weeks as both clubs work towards a deal that would allow Milanzi to complete a smooth cross border move.

  1. This is the third season running where CAPS UNITED promises fireworks at the beginning but deliver matchstick fire. I bet it will be fighting relegation again next season and Chiragwi will be the second coach to be fired after the Manica Diamonds one. My predictions about coaches being dismissed have been pretty accurate. Chiragwi won’t finish the season at Caps United. Watch the space.
