The Katonha twins, Farai Lawyer and Tendai Mayor, have approached the courts over an unpleasant smell reportedly being experienced by residents near Koala Park along Seke Road.
In their interdict application, the Katonha twins cited the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) and the Ministry of Health and Child Care as the second and third respondents respectively.
The lawsuit claims the company has been releasing harmful pollutants into the air, posing a risk to public health.
The matter is expected to be heard before the Harare Civil Court tomorrow.
“As residents of Chitungwiza, we are enduring an unpleasant smell from Koala Park whenever we pass through the area,” said Katonha.
They added that, besides motorists and passengers, people living and working around the area have also raised complaints about what they described as air pollution.
It is reported that Koala Park abattoir recently relocated its cattle closer to Seke Road, a move the applicants say has created a health hazard for nearby communities.
