Kaya959 has had a busy couple of days following the announcement that Sizwe Dhlomo has left the radio station.
The commercial radio station has announced that the legendary Thato Sikwane, better known as DJ Fresh, will join the station as of July 1st, replacing Dhlomo.
DJ Fresh brings his longtime on-air collaborator and trusted producer, Thato Mataboge.
With a career spanning more than three decades, DJ Fresh has shaped the sound of breakfast and drive-time radio across stations including YFM, 5FM, and Metro FM, while building an extraordinary profile as a DJ, music producer, entrepreneur, and live performer.
Since being off mainstream radio, he has launched a podcast, “WAW (What A Week)” and launched a community radio station 93.8FM with Unathi Nkayi.
“Breakfast radio has always been special to me because it allows you to become part of people’s daily lives,” said DJ Fresh in a statement.
“Kaya 959 has built something unique, a powerful brand, a loyal audience, and a strong connection with Gauteng.

Dhlomo on Wednesday announced to listeners that he would be leaving the station and that his contract ends at the end of June, but later the station announced Dhlomo’s last day as May 27.
Kaya959 then announced that Thomas Msengana would be replacing Dhlomo and would be on the airwaves for June, and that a new breakfast line-up starting in July would be announced. – IOL
