A fortnight ago, Brendan Galloway scored his first goal of the season for Argyle in the Emirates FA Cup in England.
The Zimbabwean defender was on target as Plymouth Argyle lost 1-4 to Leeds United in the second leg of the fourth round encounter of the tournament.
Galloway, born in the Zimbabwean capital of Harare, has played twice for the country at senior international level.
The last time was against South Africa in November 2021.
He is expected to play an integral part in the country’s bid to qualify for their maiden World Cup finals’ dance.
The Warriors will be playing in the qualifying games through the year except during the March international break.
The 2026 World Cup Qualifiers will only be played in June, while the 2025 Afcon Qualifiers will be during the other windows.
The Afcon qualifiers will begin in March in the preliminary rounds but Zimbabwe will not be taking part.
This could allow the authorities to arrange at least one friendly match during that window.
The final Afcon qualifying campaign will take place during the September, October and November international windows.
Galloway initially joined Argyle on short-term deal in the summer of 2021.
He immediately impressed with a series of classy performances on the left of the Pilgrims’ back three, but suffered an injury in October 2021 that would end up ruling him out of the rest of that season.
Galloway played 24 times as Argyle were promoted as Sky Bet League One champions in the 2022/23 season, which triggered an extension to his contract.
Before arriving in Devon, Brendan spent the majority of his career playing in the top two leagues in English football, joining Everton as a teenager from Milton Keynes Dons.
During his time at Goodison Park he caught the eye of English national selectors and played age group football for England from Under-17 to Under-21, but would later make his international debut for Zimbabwe, the country of his birth, after joining Argyle.
Brendan had two loan spells while still at Everton, playing for West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League and Sunderland in Sky Bet Championship, before signing on a permanent basis at Luton Town, where he spent one season at Luton before joining Argyle. — @innocentskizoe
