THESE are the faces of some of the kombi drivers who are posing a danger to residents of Harare by driving on pavements in the CBD.
Some of them are conductors.
They were arrested in the city on Friday after their crimes were caught on CCTV.
They have been identified as Innocent Vera (31), Archford Dhlamini (34), Justice Mukucha (23), Isaac Danzvara (30), Moses Mandimutsira (17), Ashley Kandonga (30), Trymore Nyakabau (29), Liberty Kudzange (34) and Leo Zuze (34).
They drew the attention of the public when they were led to Harare Central Police Station in handcuffs.
The nine were caught on cameras mounting pavements in Harare’s CBD.
One alarming incident occurred along Speke Avenue, with people being forced to take cover as the kombi sped by.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrests. “We have deployed police officers on every street. The drivers were captured on various CCTV cameras, which led to their identification and subsequent arrest. We continue to warn all drivers and conductors whose actions threaten public safety.
“Their days are numbered.”
