THE construction of one of the largest dams in Mashonaland East Province, Kunzvi Dam, is progressing well, with work now at 71 percent completion, bringing joy to the people of Murehwa and Goromonzi districts.
The dam has already started collecting water and construction is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
On completion, the water is expected to supply largely urban areas including northern and eastern Harare City as well as the new suburbs, towns and settlements in Goromonzi and Murehwa districts,
Currently, the pipeline to ferry the water to Harare is being laid and works have already covered about 4km from the dam site.
The Member of Parliament for Murewa West constituency, Cde Farai Jere, commended the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa for prioritising infrastructure development.
“What is exciting is that there is consistency and steady progress in terms of construction. The dam is now at 71 percent completion and they will finish by December this year. I want to thank President Mnangagwa for this huge project.”
