ISIZWE Sabatsha leader, Kwaito Boy, unveiled his latest album Umakhelwane in a colourful and creatively staged launch at the Bulawayo Theatre on Saturday, giving fans a full live experience of his new body of work.

The album features tracks including Album Intro, To the Beat To the World #NoToGBV #NoToDrugAbuse, Ngiyacela Baba and Kuyabheda Laah Ngaphandle, produced at Candy Ice Records. More songs, Seng’dakwe, Summertime, iNumber Number, were produced at Emafletsini Records, while the title track Umakhelwane was mastered at Velocity Records.

The well-attended launch was steered by Skyz Metro FM presenter Mjox and Mr Jaiva, with a vibrant entertainment line-up that included Mthwakazi Kandaba Arts, Qoki Arts, Obzinto Makhafula, Babygirl One Tyme, Mzala, Bovas, Gadlabemhleba, Ras Taken, DJ Sweeto, DJ Ayaxx, Mafevuke, and Bhila.

Kwaito Boy said the project is rooted in nostalgia and social commentary, a deliberate effort to revive a genre that shaped his upbringing.

“The album serves as a means to revive the kwaito genre. At the same time, we’re putting out messages about the societal ills that we face,” said Kwaito Boy. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
