Kwekwe Mayor, Councillor Albert Zinhanga, says the city council has engaged experts to assist with its motor drying at its water treatment plant.

In a statement, Cllr Zinhanga said following their assessment, they have advised that the affected motors must be stripped and dried in their ovens to fully remove all moisture and ensure safe operation.

“The expected time to complete this work is eight to 10 hours from commencement. We are still operating with three of the five pumps and pressure in the distribution system remains low during this period,” he said.

“Our teams and the specialists are prioritising this work to restore full pumping capacity as quickly as possible.”
