The Zimbabwe Cricket Women’s team has suffered an 11-run defeat at the hands of Papua New Guinea in their first warm-up game today ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers.
After winning the toss, the Lady Chevrons opted to bat first, restricting Papua New Guinea to 131 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.
Chasing a target of 132 runs, Zimbabwe fell short, finishing with 120 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Zimbabwe will now look forward to their final warm-up match against Ireland on Saturday before the battle for four places at the ICC 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be hosted by England and Wales later this year.
The Lady Chevrons will compete with nine other countries for the four spots at the 2026 T20 World Cup Global Qualifier in Nepal from January 18 to February 1.
