Lamiez Holworthy says ruptured cyst led to emergency surgery

On Women’s Day, 9 August, Lamiez Holworthy-Morule underwent emergency surgery after being rushed to hospital, forcing the postponement of several scheduled appearances.

Her management released a statement at the time and said her condition was not life-threatening, asking the public to respect her privacy while she recovered.

In a video update, the Metro FM presenter said a recurring cyst had ruptured, leading to the emergency procedure, publicly addressing what led to her emergency procedure. She also dismissed online speculation that her hospitalisation was linked to a BBL procedure.

“There is no BBL that is leaking. There is no BBL to begin with that was had recently. I had lipo and body sculpting in 2021, and I haven’t had any complications to date, but the one thing that I learned is that there is no honour in working yourself to death because what good is all that hard work if you’re dead.

Holworthy Morule said she had experienced recurring cysts that grew and caused severe pain. She said she had delayed the emergency operation because of scheduled commitments.

“Well? God showed me that we choose, but HE decides. So the cyst that had now grown bigger than my womb burst on Women’s Day- 7 minutes away from the second venue in Brits.

“I was rushed in for an emergency op around 9(till just after 11 coz they found even more cysts, which we now know is Endometriosis). A few hours later, I was rushed back to the OR because I had internal bleeding.

“Next thing I’m being told that I lost a lot of blood and that I’d need a blood transfusion, which freaked. I cried. I was so defeated and mostly upset at my body for allowing it to let this happen.”

Holworthy Morule also criticised online bullying and urged people to seek help and heal.

“We have too many broken little boys and girls walking around in adult bodies, and that is why cyberbullying has been normalised and me? I’m tired! Go to therapy and HEAL because we are tired of being bled on.” – IOL
