Lebo M reacts to Netflix’s hit series ‘The Polygamist’

Music producer Lebo M recently shared his thoughts on Netflix’s series The Polygamist.

The 22-episode drama, based on Zimbabwean author Sue Nyathi’s 2012 novel of the same name, premiered globally on Netflix on 12 June.

In a video shared on Instagram, Lebo M said he had watched the final two episodes several times and praised the people behind the production.

“I watched the last two episodes. I think I watched them four times. First, congratulations to the production, the amazing talent behind this project. I need to breathe a little bit more. I guess this is content into the future,” he said.

But Lebo M said he believed the show needed a different title.

“I’m not sure if the title Polygamist is appropriate. Yeah, it needed a different title. Straight to the point… “But the truth is, there are Jonases out there. Globally. There are men and female Jonases,” he said.

The Polygamist’s global success

The series has attracted attention beyond South Africa. American actresses Sherri Shepherd and Taraji P. Henson are among international viewers who have shared their thoughts about the show online.

Shepherd said she could not stop watching the series after it was recommended to her.

“Can we talk about #ThePolygamist on @Netflix … I thought #CrazyRichAsians was something, but these #CrazyRichAfricans are on a whole ‘nother level!!! I can’t turn it off!” – Citizen
