Lemoniq ready to take ‘Going High’ message to Harare stage

BULAWAYO-BORN musician and actress Lemoniq, born Gugulethu Moyo, is set to take her uplifting message of resilience to Harare when she stages a concert on September 19.

The show comes after the release of her Afro-House single Going High in May. Produced by GhostZWE, also known as Ghost Magician, the song blends contemporary sounds with traditional influences while encouraging listeners to remain hopeful and keep pursuing their dreams.

For Lemoniq, the song is personal, serving as a reminder to push through moments of doubt.
“I wrote ‘Going High’ to be my pillar of strength and a reminder to me and to everyone listening to not give up and to not forget why we started,” she said.

She hopes the message will resonate with audiences at the Harare show.

“I want someone in the crowd who’s tired, stressed, or doubting themselves to hear ‘Going High’ and leave thinking, ‘Okay, I can keep going,’” she said.
The song was inspired by a helicopter ride over Victoria Falls, an experience that helped shape its theme of rising above challenges and looking towards better days.

Lemoniq’s musical journey has been shaped by her time with Iyasa and her breakthrough win at the Zimbabwe German Society’s Das Deck Zeigt Open Mic competition in 2025. She said these experiences helped her develop confidence, discipline and a deeper appreciation of Zimbabwean music and culture.

“This journey taught me that my musical identity isn’t about copying one thing. It’s about taking all the pieces – open mic honesty, Iyasa’s roots, and Afro-House energy – and making something that’s truly mine,” she said.

The Harare concert will also give fans a preview of her upcoming single Phila Kanje, which is scheduled for release on September 25. The song carries a similar message of perseverance.

Lemoniq is also known for taking charge of her visual identity, designing outfits and headpieces for her projects.
“Visual creativity means everything to me. It’s how I finish the story the music starts,” she said.
