ZANU-PF should implement all party resolutions from conferences and congresses into measurable outcomes and practical results that will uplift the lives of ordinary persons, the revolutionary party’s First Secretary, President Mnangagwa, has said.
Over the past few years, Zanu-PF has adopted a raft of people-centred resolutions aimed at strengthening the economy, improving social services and eradicating poverty.
The resolutions, which emerged from recent party conferences, are designed to guide Government policy and address the pressing needs of Zimbabweans.
On the economic front, the party has directed the Government to take robust measures to strengthen the purchasing power of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency and expedite efforts to de-dollarise the economy.
On land and agriculture, the party has resolved to expedite the implementation of a new land tenure policy to give beneficiaries security of tenure. It has also called for the urgent allocation of 10-hectare plots per district for the youths as well as the distribution of presidential inputs and social welfare relief to all deserving citizens, regardless of political affiliation.
Infrastructure development remains a key priority, with resolutions focusing on speeding up the completion of Lake Gwayi-Shangani and Kunzvi Dam while intensifying the modernisation of irrigation and power infrastructure.
The party has also called for strengthening of social safety nets and ensuring more resources are channelled towards cushioning the vulnerable and expediting the distribution of drought relief.
In his address to the 396th Ordinary Session of Zanu-PF’s Politburo meeting at the party headquarters yesterday, President Mnangagwa said the party must continue to pursue programmes that are people-centred, developmental and impactful.
“The implementation of resolutions from previous Conferences and Congresses should be critically evaluated. Party Resolutions and decisions should not be mere declarations but translated into practical programmes and measurable outcomes. Hence, this forthcoming
Conference (in October) provides yet another platform for us to refocus and re-anchor our administrative machinery to move ‘From Resolutions to Results’. Greater unity, hard work, resolve, discipline and fortitude must continue to be the Party’s modus operandi,” said President Mnangagwa.
The Second Republic, under the administration of President Mnangagwa, has continued to register economic growth through the pursuit of broad-based and inclusive economic policies that leave no one and no place behind.
Against this background, President Mnangagwa said the party leadership should continue to uphold its ethos and values while remaining the principal custodian of the country’s rich liberation struggle legacy.
“As the entire leadership of the Party, we will never allow our rich history to be distorted, our values to be diluted or the gains of our revolution to be surrendered or reversed. Zanu-
PF is and shall forever remain the principal custodian of our rich liberation heritage,” said
President Mnangagwa.
“Our organisation must, thus, continue to adapt and evolve in keeping with the broader socio-political dynamics and changing needs of our communities. Through the Politburo and all-Party Departments, programmes must continue to be people-centred, developmental, practical and impactful, bolstering the mobilisation capacity of the Party as well as the quality of life of our citizens.”
He commended the party structures for conducting various meetings ahead of the forthcoming National People’s Conference to be held in October this year.
“I commend the Party, throughout our provinces, for convening successful Inter-Districts and Provincial Coordinating Committee meetings. This is in preparation for the 23rd National People’s Conference to be held in Mashonaland West Province,” said President
Mnangagwa.
He also noted the Politburo meeting was taking place at a time when there are preparations to officially open the Harare Agricultural Show.
“Our meeting today is also taking place at a time when we are preparing to officially open the 116th Edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show. The premier week-long event is being held under the theme, ‘Powering Growth: Where Agriculture, Technology and Commerce Converge,’ said President Mnangagwa.
“The timely occasion reminds us of the centrality of agriculture to our food sovereignty and overall economic growth. We are fully aware of the possible adverse effects posed by the El Niño-induced drought. Appropriate measures, including early warning systems and tailoring our agriculture to suit prevailing climatic conditions, are now in place to mitigate the negative impact of this phenomenon.”
President Mnangagwa said it was encouraging that the economy was showing resilience in several key sectors.
“It is pleasing that our economy is demonstrating resilience and growth across key sectors. Prudent policies being championed by our ruling Party-led Government are effective and delivering sustained macro-economic stability,” said President Mnangagwa.
“Our annual local currency inflation now stands at 2,9 percent, a historic single-digit inflation since 1980. Zanu-PF will continue to stay the course and mitigate the impact of shocks on the economy and overall well-being of our people. Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa nevene vayo/ Ilizwe, lakhiwa, libuswe, likhu-le-ke-lwe ngabanikazi balo.”
Earlier this week, President Mnangagwa witnessed the signing of the Special Mining Lease, granted to Karo Resources and Tharisa (plc) to develop a platinum group metals project on the Great Dyke, in yet another highlight of the ruling party’s attractive investment policies.
President Mnangagwa said the commissioning of the new Davipel Headquarters and manufacturing plant in the Sunway City Special Economic Zone reveals the increased participation of local entrepreneurs and adoption of modern technologies.
On the international relations front, President Mnangagwa handed over the Chairmanship of the SADC to his South African counterpart President Cyril Ramaphosa.
“We did so with pride, having played our part in advancing our regional agenda and aspirations of the peoples of Southern Africa,” said President Mnangagwa.
Turning to the preparations for the hosting of the COMESA Summit, where Zimbabwe will assume the Chairmanship of this strategic regional economic bloc, the President said preparations for hosting the event are at an advanced stage.

Continental role to unlock new opportunities for our people and businesses in Africa.”
On his state visit to South Africa last week, the President revealed that the two countries held a successful session of the Bi-National Commission.
President Mnangagwa added that the signing of wide-ranging agreements demonstrates the commitment of Zimbabwe and South Africa to advancing political and socio-economic diplomacy.
“As neighbouring nations, we are united by the enduring historical milestones which saw us defeat colonialism and apartheid. We should, therefore, continue to rise above any challenges and harness opportunities for win-win benefits for our two countries.”
“The vision of Pan-Africanism, pioneered by our Founding Fathers, as both a philosophy of liberation and a strategy for continental integration, must deepen unity and social cohesion in the SADC region and continent as a whole.
“Under the banner of African liberation movements, communities should be provided with ideologically grounded leadership towards guaranteeing continued independence and sovereignty of our people,” said the President.
He urged senior party members to remain guided by the revolutionary ethos and values that have sustained the party.
“Let us continue to exercise collective leadership and uphold the correct line of the party, always working together in unity, as we build our motherland, Zimbabwe, brick by brick, step by step and stone upon stone,” he said.
