THIRTY-SEVEN young models are set to battle for the Little Mr and Miss Africa Zimbabwe at the third edition of the event.
The little models have been drawn from many places, including Gwanda, Bulawayo, Harare, Mutare, Chipinge, Masvingo and Kwekwe.
The event is running under the theme ‘Beauty with a Purpose’.
The pageant will be held on Sunday at the Chen Casino Marina Convention Centre.
Drawn from diverse backgrounds, each model is bringing unique stories and talent to the competition.
“This year’s event promises to be an unforgettable celebration of cultural diversity, beauty and purpose.
“We are looking for talented and passionate children who are ready to make a difference and showcase Zimbabwe’s beauty to the world.
“Let’s come together to celebrate the richness of our culture and the potential of our young participants,” said the pageant’s director, Shalom Museba.
The winners will then proceed to the next continental finals in a host country yet to be revealed.
“We have the current Little Miss Africa from South Africa, who is coming in as the guest.
“We have 37 kids who will be competing and only 16 will be chosen for the titles, where six will be for Kids and Teens Global, some will be selected for Toto Category, Mini Little Teen for both boys and girls, top models and then Toto Mini little and Teen.
“The winners will have a chance to represent Zimbabwe at the continental finals.
“Unfortunately, last year, only four managed to go to Egypt due to resources,” said Museba.
The young models have been undertaking various projects, including tree planting, advocating for poverty eradication, promoting children’s rights, empowering the girl child, anti-drug abuse campaigns, promoting wellness among boys, supporting the less privileged, fighting child marriages and promoting a clean environment, among other initiatives.
