Local authorities urges to collaborate with Government arms on projects

Chegutu District Development Coordinator Mr Mark Kadaira says local authorities can approach Government institutions such as the Zimbabwe National Army or the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) to acquire skills and labour for construction projects in areas under their jurisdictions.

He was speaking at the 306th ordinary Norton Town Council meeting .

Council had raised concerns regarding prioritisation of projects and one topical issue was on a number of uncompleted projects being undertaken by the council at once with most of the projects lying idle (white elephants).

“As far as construction is concerned, local authorities can use Government institutions such as the army or ZPCS which can offer them the skills and the labour for construction projects in areas of their jurisdiction,” he said.
