The country’s leading beauty queens, Miss Universe Zimbabwe Roseanna Hall, Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe Malaika Mushandu, Miss Intercontinental Zimbabwe Virginia Nyambe, and Miss World Zimbabwe Brunette Makanyiso were among distinguished guests who joined the French diplomatic community in Harare on Monday to celebrate Bastille Day, France’s national holiday.

They attended the commemorations hosted by French Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Paul-Bertrand Barets, at his official residence.

Bastille Day, observed annually on July 14, marks the storming of the Bastille prison in Paris in 1789, a pivotal event of the French Revolution. The day is widely regarded as a symbol of the end of absolute monarchy and the birth of modern democracy in France.

The event brought together diplomats, government officials, business leaders, and members of the cultural community in a celebration that not only honoured France’s historic milestone, but also reinforced the importance of international friendship and cooperation.

Reflecting on the occasion, Hall took to social media to express her appreciation for the invitation and the opportunity to witness the enduring relationship between Zimbabwe and France.
“It was an honour to attend the celebration of Bastille Day, marking France’s National Day, and to witness the enduring partnership and meaningful ties between Zimbabwe and France,” she said.

Hall noted that such events play an important role in strengthening international cooperation and cultural understanding.
“As our nations continue to deepen bilateral cooperation, occasions like these serve as a reminder of the power of dialogue, cultural exchange, and international collaboration in shaping a more connected future.
“My sincere appreciation to His Excellency Ambassador Paul-Bertrand Barets for the gracious invitation and warm hospitality,” she added.
