Local Government Minister approves Ruwa Local Board 2026 budget

The Minister of Local Government and Public Works has approved the 2026 budget for Ruwa Local Board.

A notice from the Ruwa Local Board states that this approval is in accordance with Section 47(1) of the Public Finance Management Act (Chapter 22:19).

“Notice is hereby given that in terms of Section 47(1) of the Public Finance Management Act (Chapter 22:19), the Minister of Local Government and Public Works has approved the 2026 Ruwa Local Board budget,” reads the notice.

In an interview, Ruwa Local Board public relations officer Ms Josephine Mwaitirwa said the 2026 budget is US$22.2 million.

“It is broken down as follows: revenue income of US$15.6 million and capital income of US$6.6 million.

“Our budget priorities this year are focused on enhanced service delivery, notably the upgrading of the sewer network, a prepaid water metering project, network upgrades and the construction of a fire station.

“The newly built Damofalls Clinic will also be equipped, roads will be resurfaced, while the purchase of a water treatment reactor, a refuse compactor, and street lighting will also be prioritised,” she said.
