A two-day Local Government transformation workshop is underway in Kadoma, bringing together senior officials from local authorities across the country to deliberate on ways of improving service delivery and strengthening local governance.
Permanent Secretary for Local Government and Public Works Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti is officiating at the workshop.
It is being attended by town clerks, secretaries and chief executive officers from all 92 local authorities in Zimbabwe, alongside District Development Coordinators (DDCs) from across the country.
Officials from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works are also participating in the workshop, which provides a platform for local authorities to exchange experiences and explore strategies for improving the delivery of services to communities.
Eng Muguti rallied councils to enhance service delivery and work on addressing dilapidated water systems.
“And we need to begin to demand measurable results. The people deserve better, the people do not experience Government thrust of devolution through propaganda, through policy documents but when they open their taps each morning and find water they know there’s a government in place functioning,” he said.
