Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria may be facing a recurring health scare, but he has the unwavering support of his mentees.

Among them is Alick Macheso, a high-profile figure who has been discreetly helping Madzibaba during these challenging times.

The list of his “students” rallying behind the Khiama Boys frontman is extensive.

One of Madzibaba’s devoted supporters is long-distance truck driver-cum-musician, Patrick Mupindu, also known as Njando Power, who has dedicated his latest album, titled “Matare Mirai”, to his mentor.

“I may be a truck driver who spends much of my time on the road, but I am also a talented musician who learnt a lot from Madzibaba,” he stated.

“My story would be incomplete without mentioning Madzibaba, who has always been there for us. We are dedicating this album to him, and I hope he enjoys the songs as he recovers from his condition.”

While he acknowledges the mutual support shared with Madzibaba, Mupindu prefers to keep certain details private.

“My joy lies in the fact that he has guided me in recording this album, and his influence is evident throughout this project.”

As the frontman of Vehukama Express, Mupindu is committed to honoring Madzibaba’s legacy.

“Artistes from Madzibaba’s generation are treasures in the entertainment industry, and we must fully utilise their contributions to benefit future generations. Whether we like it or not, they have left an indelible mark, and we need to cherish their legacy for years to come. I have greatly benefited from their wisdom over the years.”

Recorded at NP Studios, engineered by Antony Gasani and mastered by Bothwell Nyamhondera, Njonda Power went out of his way in search of quality.

He engaged the best minds in this particular genre to ensure that he came up with something of higher quality.

The album carries five tracks: “Ziva Paumire,” “Ndayaura,” “Gamba Raenda,” “Ndakomberedzwa,” “Ndichauyako,” and “Tsitsi Nerudo.”

Now that the album has been released, Njonda Power noted that his mission was to take it to the people.

“To be honest with you, I am determined to market it across all online platforms because I nailed it, I hear.

“This is one special album where I feel I should also be counted among the top perfectionists in sungura. I have also lined up a series of radio interviews where I hope to unveil it online and reach out to many people,” stated the burly singer.

With a demanding schedule, the singer has pledged to come up with a special arrangement and organise shows for his loyal fans at home.

“To all my loyal fans, I will devise ways to make sure I organize shows for you since it has always been your wish to see me holding such gigs,” he added. Njonda Power, who started music as a hobby, did not rule out the chances of becoming a full-time musician in the future.

“Music remains my first love, and though I am happy with the job security and what I am getting from driving, I am hoping to be in full-time music and staging live shows one day when everything is in place. I am already investing in studio and live show equipment,” he shared.

And true to his words, Njonda Power boasts a studio at home where he recorded his last album. It was expertly done in many departments, and his ultimate dream is to ensure that he scales the same heights as his mentor, Madzibaba.

“I am learning from the best, and having their blessing is everything. What we do is greatly needed and cherished for years to come,” he pointed out.
