HELL hath no fury like a woman with car keys!
A 40-year-old Esigodini woman, Revai Rungano of Habani Extension, has been dragged to court after allegedly turning her ex-boyfriend’s Mazda B25 into her personal ride long after the love ran out.
Rungano, who once had the heart of 54-year-old Farai Chingombe, is accused of “borrowing” the vehicle during their romance and never bringing it back. The story, according to prosecutor Christina Manyika, sounds straight out of a soapie.
“She borrowed the car claiming she wanted to travel to Chinhoyi for a holiday,” said Manyika. “To date, she has not returned it.”
Chingombe probably thought he was fuelling love, but it turned out he was fuelling his own heartbreak. The Mazda, valued at US$2 200, vanished faster than the relationship itself.
Rungano pleaded not guilty when she appeared before Western Commonage magistrate, Lungile Ncube. She was remanded out of custody to 23 October for continuation of trial.
Meanwhile, social media is having a field day, with users joking that Chingombe’s mistake was “lending out love on four wheels.”
