A JEALOUS Gokwe man who went berserk over suspected infidelity has been slapped with a five-year jail term after plunging a knife into his love rival.
Khulekhani Kangazane (27) of Village Magama under Chief Chireya, Gokwe North, was convicted by the Gokwe Magistrates’ Court of assault following a bloody New Year’s Day attack at Sandura Business Centre.
Kangazane, according to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), confronted a 24 year old man and accused him of having an affair with his wife.
“An altercation ensued and the offender produced an okapi knife from his pocket and stabbed the victim twice on the back and once on the left middle finger,” said the NPAZ.
The wounded man managed to report the matter to the police, leading to Kangazane’s arrest.
After being found guilty, Kangazane was sentenced to five years imprisonment. One year was suspended on condition of good behaviour, leaving him to serve an effective four years behind bars.
