A LUVEVE man has been caged for 15 years after committing a sickening rape on a mentally challenged minor.

Tinashe Dombo (31) of Old Luveve was sentenced by the Tredgold Regional Magistrates’ Court after being found guilty of rape.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ), the horrific sex attack occurred on February 25 this year. Dombo targeted a 16-year-old girl who, besides being too young to consent, was incapacitated mentally.

“On the 25th of February, 2026, the offender entered the residence of a female who is mentally incompetent and unable to provide consent,” said the prosecuting authority.

The court heard that Dombo used deception to gain entry into the home.

“Under the guise of looking for the complainant’s uncle, the offender entered a bedroom and coerced the victim. He then proceeded to force the victim onto a bed and raped her,” said the NPAZ.

Medical evidence later confirmed the rape.

In a stern warning, the prosecuting authority said: “This heinous act against a mentally incompetent victim is a grave violation of human dignity. Crimes of sexual violence will be met with the full force of the law.”

The NPAZ also commended the victim’s bravery and the police for ensuring “this predator is removed from the streets.”
