OUTRAGED business owners at Chigumira Business Centre in Luveve have condemned the brutal double murder that rocked the area last week, saying the violence is barbaric and threatens their livelihoods.
The condemnation follows the fatal stabbing of two relatives, Bishop Ncube (46) and Malach Ndlovu (40), outside Kidza Nightclub last Tuesday morning after a violent altercation allegedly involving seven artisanal gold miners.
Entrepreneurs who operate pubs and eateries in the area said they are fed up with patrons who disregard the sanctity of human life, turning entertainment spots into bloodstained battlefields.
Tapiwanashe Mapfumo, who runs Kidza Nightclub, said his staff works hard to maintain order but some patrons are simply uncontrollable.
“One of the men who was stabbed had long been banned from my bar due to violent tendencies. CCTV footage showed him arguing with some individuals before the fight broke out,” he said.
Joseph Dzova, who runs Matsika Shisa Nyama, said the incident has shaken the entire business community.
“Violence has no place at Chigumira. We have built this centre into a family-friendly entertainment spot, but such barbaric acts scare away customers and damage our reputation,” he said.
Brian Samuriwo of KoSamuriwo Pub and Grill echoed the same sentiments, describing the murders as a tragic reflection of moral decay.
“We are deeply saddened. People should come here to relax, not to die,” he said.
The double murder has sparked community outrage, with residents and business owners now demanding increased police patrols and tighter security measures to restore order at nightspots.
Police investigations into the deadly attack are ongoing, with all seven suspects still on the run.
