A 34-year-old businesswoman, who owned a fleet of kombis, was on Sunday killed by three machete-wielding robbers in Dzivarasekwa.

Forgive Tichareva succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack.

Forgive and her husband, Shepherd Muchenje, 35, were sleeping when the armed robbers burst into their bedroom.

Shepherd was struck with a machete on the shoulder, back and left ankle.

The robbers stole US$1,400 which had been collected from the couple’s kombi drivers.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the case.

“Police are investigating an armed robbery case in Dzivarasekwa,” said Insp Chakanza.

“The complainant grabbed the machete and a fight ensued.

“During the fight, the woman was struck and her husband was struck again on the back and on the left ankle.

“The husband managed to grab the machete and in the melee, the machete dropped down and the accused managed to pick it and disappeared into the darkness.

“He rushed his wife to the hospital where she was admitted.

“The deceased had a deep cut on her thigh, back, left upper arm and on the right cheek.

“The body of the deceased is at Parirenyatwa Hospital Mortuary awaiting post mortem,” said Insp Chakanza.
