MADZIBABA Nigel Dokwani of Johanne Masowe yeChishanu has urged inmates not to be tempted to escape from prison.

He prayed with some inmates when he visited Harare Central Prison.

“I have come to pray with everyone here,” he said.

“I am aware that all of you committed your offences and this involves your family background spirits.

“You are all supposed to complete your sentences as part of your deliverance.

“Escaping from prison has serious negative effects in your life spiritually and physically.

“Government authorities have been ordained by God and they are used to correct people’s mistakes, hence the need to respect them.

“I repeat, do not escape from prison, wait patiently in prayer and all shall be well with you.”

Madzibaba Nigel donated shoes, toiletries, toothbrushes, soap and soccer balls to the inmates.

Madzibaba Nigel and his team later played a football match against a Harare Central Prison select inmates’ team.

His team lost on penalties.

Dr Rutendo Mudzamiri, board chairperson of Pathways to Reintegration Foundation (PAREF), which facilitated the visit, said:

“As PAREF, we want to thank ZPCS Commissioner-General Moses Chihobvu for seeing the need to engage more stakeholders for successful rehabilitation and reintegration.

“We are not stopping in reaching out to the church and traditional leaders to find ways to bridge the gap between inmates and society.

“We are engaging captains of industry to see how best they can assist ex-convicts upon completing their sentences.

“Families, too, matter, these inmates come from society and will return to it, so we are creating a smooth path for their acceptance back into the community.”
