Magayas expected back in court today

The trial of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya is expected to commence today at the Harare Magistrates Court.

Magaya faces five counts of rape, including an allegation that he fathered a child with one of the victims.  The alleged incidents, occurred between 2018 and 2023 and involve two complainants. 

Meanwhile, the other fraud case in which Magaya, his wife Tendai, and their two companies are implicated will be given a trial date tomorrow, and the trial will be heard at the High Court.

The couple faces 78 fraud charges connected to their companies, Planet Africa Private Limited and Yadah Connect Private Limited.

According to the State, they misrepresented to congregants that they had residential stands for sale in various locations across Zimbabwe. 

Victims were allegedly defrauded of a combined US$49 240 and R195 000 in a botched land deal.

Additionally, the Magayas are accused of soliciting investments in various ventures, promising investors a 50 percent return within six months, a promise that was never fulfilled.

  1. I bet all these people claiming victim got into the situation voluntarily. Just look at how many people believe this con artist is a man of God. Sometimes people must be left to suffer the consequences of their own making. A person who chooses to dive into an empty swimming pool headlong deserves no sympathy for his or her injuries.
