A 25-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man has appeared in court facing charges of unlawful possession of crystal methamphetamine.
Qhubekani Brendon Ndlovu of Old Magwegwe appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Ms Beverly Madzikatire, charged with unlawful possession of dangerous drugs as defined in Section 157 (1)(a) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act (Chapter 9:23).
Ndlovu pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody until January 16 for trial.
Prosecuting, Mr Methuli Ncube told the court that on December 29, at around 2.30PM, detectives received information that the accused was in possession of drugs at Egodini Bus Terminus in Bulawayo.
“Acting on the information, detectives proceeded to the terminus where they found the accused seated at a vending stand,” said Mr Ncube.
Upon identifying themselves and explaining the purpose of their visit, the officers conducted a search, which led to the recovery of one sachet of crystal methamphetamine from Ndlovu’s trouser pocket.
Following the recovery, Ndlovu was arrested at the scene.
The seized substance was taken to Bulawayo Zimpost for weighing in the presence of the accused and was found to weigh one gram, with an estimated street value of ZWG150.
