ZIMBABWE Cricket managing director Givemore Makoni says the forthcoming three-match T20I series, that will see the Chevrons host India at Harare Sports Club in July, presents a significant opportunity for both the team and local fans.
ZC announced yesterday that the matches are scheduled for July 23, 25 and 26.
“Matches against India always generate enormous interest and this is a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against the world champions on home soil,” said Makoni.
He added: “Following our encouraging performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, this series gives us a strong platform to build momentum and continue growing as a competitive force in international cricket.”
The two nations most recently met during the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Chennai on February 26. India last toured Zimbabwe in July 2024 when the teams contested a five-match T20I series that drew significant local and global interest.
In addition to the July series, Zimbabwe will tour India in January 2027 for a three-match One-Day International series, their first bilateral tour of India since March 2002.
The forthcoming fixtures follow Zimbabwe’s outstanding performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, where they reached the Super Eight stage after topping a highly competitive group featuring Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Oman without suffering a single defeat.
Meanwhile, in addition to the July series, ZC confirmed that the Chevrons will tour India in January 2027 for a three-match One-Day International series — marking their first bilateral tour of India since March 2002. The fixtures are scheduled for January 3 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, January 6 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad and January 9 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
