MALAWIAN GOSPEL SINGER FINDS LOVE IN ZIM

MALAWIAN gospel musician Mathias Sikapizye, popularly known as DJ Kapere, is steadily making a name for himself in Zimbabwe through songs that encourage love, generosity and positive living.

Although he began his musical journey in 2010, the singer only started sharing his music on social media in 2023, opening his ministry to a wider audience across the region.

DJ Kapere says his decision to pursue gospel music was inspired by his desire to communicate meaningful messages that can positively impact people’s lives. “I chose gospel because I felt that it communicates more than other genres.

“It makes it easier to deliver a certain message to people,” he said.

The singer has so far released two songs, “Ruoko Rwekupa” and “Abambo Chivhayo”, both carrying messages aimed at inspiring people to care for one another and make a difference in their communities.

According to DJ Kapere, his music is rooted in values of compassion, kindness and selflessness, which he believes are essential in today’s society.

“The songs are to teach people to love and care for one another.

“They teach people to do good to others all the time,” he explained.

His song “Ruoko Rwekupa”, which translates to “The Hand That Gives”, preaches the importance of helping those in need and extending kindness without expecting anything in return.

Through the song, the artist encourages listeners to cultivate a spirit of generosity and support within their communities.

The musician believes that acts of kindness, no matter how small, have the power to transform lives and create stronger social bonds.

“Abambo Chivhayo is a song to thank Sir Wicknell for the things he is doing either to artists or the public.  My message is that people should learn from him,” he said.

As gospel music continues to evolve across Southern Africa, artists like DJ Kapere are increasingly using their platforms not only to spread faith-based messages but also to address social issues and promote positive values.

His growing presence on social media has allowed his music to reach audiences beyond Malawi, attracting listeners who appreciate inspirational content and uplifting messages.

With only two officially released songs so far, DJ Kapere remains optimistic about the future of his music ministry and hopes to continue producing songs that encourage unity, generosity and compassion.

For the singer, gospel music is more than entertainment it is a tool for teaching, inspiring and reminding people of the importance of caring for one another.

As he continues his journey, DJ Kapere is determined to use his voice to spread messages of hope and motivate people to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
