A MAN has appeared in court after he allegedly fired a shot at a moving vehicle, damaging its rear bumper, during a late-night altercation involving women in Whitehouse.

Raymond Nyika Mukiwa (54) appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo, who granted him US$100 bail.

The State alleges that at around 11:40pm on Saturday, the complainant, Law Chikwavaire, was driving from Madhadha Bar in Whitehouse towards Whitehouse Shopping Centre in his Mitsubishi car.

He stopped the car after meeting two women.

Prosecutors allege that while Chikwavaire was talking to the women, Mukiwa emerged from the darkness, charged towards him and struck him once on the right hand with an unidentified object, causing a minor injury.

It is alleged that Chikwavaire drove towards Whitehouse Police Station to file a report.

Mukiwa allegedly fired a single shot at his vehicle, damaging the rear bumper.

Police investigations led to Mukiwa’s arrest.

The State alleges that officers recovered a Tokarev pistol loaded with a magazine containing six rounds of ammunition from Mukiwa and it is registered in his name.

The prosecution alleges that Mukiwa acted unlawfully, and investigations are ongoing.
