A BEITBRIDGE man has been arrested in connection with TWENTY counts of theft from cars parked in the town.
Halbane Moyo is said to have run his criminal enterprise from December last year to this month.
Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, CID spokesperson, confirmed Moyo’s arrest.
She said the community noted an increase in thefts from cars.
He appeared at the Beitbridge Magistrates Court yesterday and was remanded in custody pending trial.
Moyo allegedly targeted parked vehicles, forcibly gaining entry to steal valuables such as cellphones, laptops, and cash.
His criminal spree came to an end on Sunday when CID detectives received information linking him to a theft, which had occurred the previous day.
During this incident, Moyo allegedly broke into a complainant’s vehicle and stole cash.
Following further investigations, authorities arrested him, recovering a hydraulic jack, cellphones, various clothing items, and sub-woofers, among other valuables.
Moyo now faces a total of 20 theft from cars charges.
Most of the recovered property has been positively identified by its owners.
Det-Insp Muteweri expressed gratitude to the community for providing credible information which led to Moyo’s arrest.
