A PLUMTREE man’s attempt at playing home detective has landed him in court after a bedroom “talk” allegedly crossed lines and set alarm bells ringing.
The accused, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the minor, appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware facing an indecent assault allegation involving his stepdaughter (10). He was remanded out of custody to 5 February and was not asked to plead.
Prosecutor Sheila Nyathi told the court that the incident occurred on an unknown date between June and August 2025. At the time, other adults were reportedly busy in the kitchen while Sithole called the complainant into his bedroom.

The accused asked the complainant why she was touching her nephew’s private parts while bathing him.
While interrogating the complainant, the accused then slid his hand in complainant’s dress, touched her privates and fondled her breasts.
After the act the accused told the complainant to leave the room and go back to the kitchen, where upon her arrival she told the matter to her aunt who was their maid.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.
