A MAN from Harare’s Eastview suburb is in trouble after allegedly insulting his wife at a city-centre complex despite a court order barring him from harassing or contacting her.
Mafetuka Shungu appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court facing a charge of contravening the terms and conditions of a peace order issued by the Harare Civil Court.
The complainant is his wife, Chido Chakwenya.
The matter is being dealt with under Harare Civil Court case number HREB658/26.
Prosecutor Dzidzai Josiah told the court that sometime this month, on a date not specified, Shungu allegedly went to Number 11 Konono Complex along Leopold Takawira Street, where Chakwenya was present.
The court heard that the peace order specifically barred Shungu from harassing, intimidating or insulting Chakwenya. However, the State alleges that Shungu approached Chakwenya and confronted her before allegedly insulting her.
According to the prosecution, his actions amounted to a breach of the peace order.
The matter was remanded to a later date for further proceedings, with a trial date yet to be set.
