A MAN, who kidnapped and raped a woman throughout the night at his home here in Chinhoyi, has been slapped with an 18-year jail sentence.
Felix Mumba, 36, will serve 16 years if he behaves well during his length time in prison.
Mumba, of Ruvimbo Phase 1, Chinhoyi, was found guilty at the Chinhoyi Magistrate’s Court.
The complainant is a 33- year-old woman who lives in the same neighbourhood with Mumba.
According to the State, on July 16, 2023, around 9pm, the woman was on her way to Charlie Base Police Post, in the high density area of Cherima, when she met Mumba.
Mumba asked the woman if she could spend the night with him at his house, in return for some financial payment, but she rejected his offer.
Mumba suddenly attacked the woman, lifted her and forcibly took her to his house.
The State proved that he raped her, without protection, throughout the night.
During her ordeal, she managed to send a message to her uncle advising him that she had been kidnapped and raped by Miumba.
Her uncle reported the case at Chikonohono Police Base and a group of policemen raided Mumba’s house and arrested him.
